Alexander James

Pastor Alexander James is a pastor, poet, author, and ministry strategist with a heart for helping people encounter Jesus and live with greater honesty, courage, and purpose. Raised in South Los Angeles, Alexander’s ministry has been shaped by a deep love for the local church, leadership development, and communities that reflect the diversity of God’s Kingdom.

He has preached, taught, and performed poetry in churches, conferences, schools, camps, and public spaces across the country and beyond. His work has also been recognized with Addy and Webby Awards, and his debut poetry book, Just Be Honest, reflects his passion for truth, healing, and freedom.

As Senior Pastor of East Whittier Friends Church, Alexander is passionate about building a multiethnic, multicultural, and multigenerational church where people are known, loved, discipled, and sent to serve their community.
